Boston Pride Names Charlene Charles as a New Board Member

Boston Pride has named Charlene Charles as a new member of the Boston Pride Board of Directors. Charles is the Director for New England Professional Queer WoMen of Color and works with queer organizations of color to bridge the gaps and create multi-cultural safe places in the LGBT community. In addition, longtime board member Malcom Carey has been appointed as treasurer of Boston Pride.

"Charlene Charles is a great addition to our board," said Sylvain Bruni, President of Boston Pride. "We are excited to see Charlene bring her energy, skills and knowledge to Boston Pride, which will reinforce our ability to reach out to all communities and to professionalize our operations."

As the newest member of the Board of Directors, Charles' goal is to strengthen Boston Pride's relationships within the Queer Person of Color (QPOC) Boston Community and make it a catalyst for solidarity and support between all queer communities. Charles, a resident of Medford, is a contract administrator at a consulting firm, and the owner of Cecsy's Spice, a local catering business where she incorporates her Caribbean culture and love for food and spice into flavorful sauces and spreads.

Malcolm Carey, a resident of Brockton, has been a volunteer with Boston Pride since 2004.He joined the Board of Directors in 2008 where he has served as clerk for two terms.�Additionally, he serves as Boston Pride's bookkeeper and is involved in its finance committee. Mr. Carey is an accounting professional at a local pharmaceutical company.

Fostering diversity, unity, visibility and dignity, we educate, communicate and advocate by building and strengthening community connections. �Pride Week 2016 will be held June 3-12.
