Under The Dome - Season Three
Ken Tasho READ TIME: 1 MIN.
The swan song season of "Under the Dome" went out with a whimper and not a bang.
On Blu-ray, fans of "Under the Dome: Season Three" should be satisfied with what Paramount offers: the entire season in high definition along with over an hour of special features.
The premiere episode of season three shows that the creators wanted to reboot and revamp the dying show. New actors/characters were added -- Marg Helgenberger was a wise addition -- and CBS moved "Under the Dome" to a later time slot. Because of that, many of the actors shed their clothes often and leapt in and out of bed with each other. It led the show down a soap opera path and made "Under the Dome" even more convoluted than prior seasons.
Luckily, the show was saved at the last minute with its mostly satisfying final episode. That final show gets examined on disc four of this Blu-ray set, a behind-the scenes look at how everything was filmed and the camaraderie the actors had.
All other episodes get looked at in the close to one hour featurette "Life Under the Dome: Behind the Scenes of Season Three." The show's actors sit down for various interview segments in "Return to the Dome: A Look at Season Three." And the requisite gag reel can be viewed, along with two brief extras called "The Device" and "Meet Indy the Dog"; this is where the character of Big Jim shows his soft spot and adopts a dog.
Each disc also gets extended and deleted scenes as optional bonus features.
