Chasten Buttigieg took a not-so-subtle swipe at Rep. Lauren Boebert (R. Colo.) for being a grade A hypocrite.
As reported by The Hill, Biebert tweeted a Father's Day message for America's fathers but also attacked Chasten's husband, Pete, Secretary of Transportation, for working from a hospital while their son was on a ventilator.
"The role of a father is absolutely fundamental to the family and to the society as a whole," Boebert role.
Buttigieg screen grabbed her tweet with a terse message: "I watched him take calls and Zooms from our hospital room all day, managing crisis after crisis while our son's heart monitor beeped in the background," he wrote on Twitter.
Chasten explained that their "two-month-old son was on a ventilator at the children's hospital when you attacked my husband for being with his family."
Since becoming doting dads to twins, Chasten and Pete have taken the brunt of a lot of criticism from conservatives.
Boebert seemed to be the loudest in her remarks after she accused Pete of "not working" while his son was in the hospital because he was "trying to figure out how to chest feed."
"While he builds up his image as a doting dad, the country burns up around him," she said.
Pete didn't let the criticism go unchecked. Appearing on MSNBC's "Deadline: White House," Buttigieg said he was indeed available around the clock to handle any issues while his son was in the hospital.
"What is really strange is that this is from a side of the aisle that used to claim the mantle of being pro-family. What we have right now is an administration that's actually pro-family," Buttigieg said last fall. "I'm blessed to be able to experience that as an employee, being able to have the flexibility to take care of our newborn children, which is, by the way, work. It's a joyful work. It's wonderful work, but it's – it's definitely work," he added.
