Action Alert: Oppose Graham/Cassidy Bill Repealing the ACA and Cutting Medicaid

READ TIME: 1 MIN.

On Friday, September 15, Senators Bill Cassidy (R-LA) and Lindsey Graham (R-SC), along with Ron Johnson (R-WI) and Dean Heller (R-NV), introduced new legislation to repeal the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Amida Care says it's time to let your elected officials know it's not enough.

Like past bills, the Graham/Cassidy bill would fundamentally change Medicaid, decrease funding for the program, and take health insurance away from millions. Critically, states in the Northeast like New York, New Jersey, and Maine stand to face disproportionately large Medicaid cuts that punish them for increasing access to health care coverage for their citizens.

We must take a stand against this partisan effort that will jeopardize the health of millions of Americans.

Call your U.S. legislators at 866-426-2631 and join the Medicaid is US campaign.

TELL THEM TO:

  • Speak out against and oppose the Graham/Cassidy bill.
  • Preserve health care coverage for millions of Americans.
  • Advance meaningful non-partisan legislation to improve health care access for all Americans.
  • Stand up for Medicaid, a critical component of health care in the United States.

More than 74 million Americans depend on it for coverage, and 60 percent of them are working adults. One in two Americans will need Medicaid at some point in their lives -- either at birth or later in life for long-term care.

Over 40 percent of people living with HIV/AIDS depend of Medicaid for life-saving treatment, a 5 percent increase since the ACA was passed.
