The Los Cabos Tourism Board announced that June 9-14 will mark the destination's third annual Los Cabos Open of Surf; welcoming surfers from around the globe to ride the waves of the crystal blue waters surrounding the Baja Peninsula.

"We are thrilled to once again host this exciting event attracting surf aficionados and families alike to Los Cabos," said Luis Palacios, Commercial Director of the Los Cabos Tourism Board. "Every year the festival is growing and aims to attract visitors with interests not just in surf but art, authentic cuisine, music and more."

The festival will be held at the world-famous surf spot, Zippers Beach along Costa Azul, known for its 4-5 foot, fast, fun, lippy waves and will focus on a Qualifying Series (QS) 6000 women's division competition as well as a co-ed pro junior event where surfers will compete for a massive prize purse and ever-important points toward qualification on the World Championship Tour.

Not only is the Los Cabos Open of Surf the largest surf festival in Mexico and Latin America, but this year's festival will also make a splash with music fans, as Donnovan Frankenreiter, a popular artist among the surf community, will be performing a special concert on Friday, June 12.

"We're super excited to have the best Jr.'s in the world coming to Los Cabos to compete," said Chris Cote, Communications Director and Cultural Ambassador for the Los Cabos Open Of Surf. "Adding Pro Jr.'s to the QS6000 Women's event is going to give the spectators a really cool look at the future of our sport, and is the perfect complement to the Women's QS, an event that will spotlight the world's best women surfers at a break that is perfect to showcase high performance surfing."

Cote went on to say, "The list of women coming down to compete in Los Cabos is amazing!"

Leading up to Mexico's biggest surf event Cote, and professional surfer, Anastasia Ashley, will once again be hosting and documenting their surf-centric trip on the sunny beaches of Los Cabos. The feature titled "How 2 Do Los Cabos" will highlight the pair's adventure through the destination's surfing paradise as well as spotlight the local cuisine and culture of the destination.

Los Cabos, located at the tip of the 1,000-mile long Baja Peninsula, is one of the world's most diverse tourism destinations. Boasting a dramatic desert backdrop nestled by coastlines of the Pacific Ocean and Sea of Cortez, Los Cabos is home to award-winning resorts and culinary offerings considered some of the finest available anywhere. A growing list of championship golf courses, rejuvenating spas, world-renowned sport fishing tournaments, and state of the art convention facilities add to the destination's unmatched appeal.

The Los Cabos Open of Surf is the premiere professional surf and music event in Mexico. Beginning in 2013, The Los Cabos Open of Surf started as an ASP 6-Star Men's event, and in 2014, it became the first Women's ASP 6-Star competition in Mexico. The main event site is held at the world-famous surf spot, Zippers, located at Costa Azul, San Jos del Cabo, Baja California Sur, Mexico. The event is produced and promoted by Boardwalk Mx, and sanctioned by the World Surf League with the sponsorship of the Los Cabos Tourism Board.
