One Million Moms Takes On Pubic Hair TV Spot
Bobby McGuire READ TIME: 1 MIN.
One Million Moms is looking to snatch business away from Schick.
Two years ago American Family Association media watchdog group One Million Moms, infuriated by a TV commercial for an electric razor by Norelco, launched an all-out assault against pubic hair related advertising. That war wages on today.
In their latest campaign, the self-appointed morality mavens are calling on followers to speak out against an ad for Shick Hydro Silk TrimStyle razors for women that they consider to be "inappropriate and vile."
Their rant reads:
The commercial shows three women in tiny bikinis standing behind small bushes strategically placed in front of their crotches. Two women then proceed to delicately trim these bushes with scissors. The third woman uses her new Schick razor on the bush. She trims it into the shape of a heart and the other two women stand amazed. The advertisement gives the impression they are trimming and shaping their pubic area because of how the trees are placed. You do not have to imagine much to see the implication.
Comments on OMM's Facebook page are predictably supportive.
"I haven't seen the commercial, but the product itself stinks! I bought it because I had a $5 off coupon, but I wish I had saved my money on that one!"
Sometimes bargains come at a cost. In this case it may be your very soul.
