Wendy Davis Says She Supports Gay Marriage

Democratic gubernatorial candidate Wendy Davis says she supports gay marriage and called on her opponent Attorney General Greg Abbott to stop defending the definition of marriage in the Texas constitution as only between one man and one woman.
The state senator from Fort Worth told the San Antonio Express-News editorial board on Thursday that two people who want to get married should be allowed to do so regardless of their sexual orientation.
A federal judge in San Antonio heard arguments Wednesday that the voter-approved ban on gay marriage is unconstitutional.
Davis was expected to appear later Thursday with Democratic lieutenant governor candidate Leticia Van de Putte and San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro.
They will meet at a San Antonio middle school where Davis will propose early childhood policy initiatives.
