LaBarbera: TV's 'Glee' and Rose Parade Wedding Ruining America's Youth

Americans for Truth About Homosexuality's president Peter LaBarbera started 2014 off with a bang in a diatribe that blamed everything from TV's "Glee" to the same-sex wedding that took place at the Rose Parade to President Obama for ruining youth in America, Right Wing Watch reports.

"Now you have programs like 'Glee' where you have young men with romantic kisses on TV ... I just learned that the Rose Bowl parade is going to have a homosexual so-called 'marriage' float," LaBarbera told the American Family Association Radio's Sand Rios. "All of those little kids are going to be seeing two men or two women or whatever it is getting married so-called and it's going to infect their minds and corrupt those young minds."

Later on, LaBarbera criticized America's "radical pro-gay culture."

"I was in Jamaica just a couple of weeks ago," he said. "We're spreading immorality around the world, we're exporting homosexuality now to these little countries like Jamaica using our foreign aid dollars."

Last month BuzzFeed reported that LaBarbera drew sharp criticism for a speech he made at a conference organized by the Jamaican Coalition for a Healthy Society and the Christian Lawyers' Association in Kingston. These groups have lobbied against a possible repeal of a colonial-era law that bans same-sex intercourse, commonly referred to as the "buggery law."

Wednesday's comments from the anti-gay activist are par for the course for him. As the Huffington Post reports, LaBarbera blamed the Obama administration for turning "the United States into a huge gay-rights government."

"There's lots of government and states, whether they're Muslim or like ardently Christian nations like Uganda that don't want, they don't share the caviler attitude of the West toward homosexuality, they certainly don't want to promote it," he said on Michael Brown's "Line of Fire" radio show last year.

A career homophobe, LaBarbera is the founder of Americans for the Truth About Homosexuality (AFTAH). He started the organization as a part-time enterprise in 1996 while working as an editor for the Family Research Council.

According to Wikipedia :

In 2002, LaBarbera compared the alleged dangers of homosexuality to those of "smoking, alcohol and drug abuse."

In 2007, LaBarbera said there was "a disproportionate incidence of pedophilia" among gay men -- a claim refuted by the American Psychological Association. The same year, he posted literature that made a series of false claims about gays running the German Nazi Party.

In 2010, AFTAH was designated as an anti-gay hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) for spreading hateful propaganda, and claiming that homosexuality can be "cured."
