Wash. Students Suspended for Wearing Flag

Tahoma High School in Maple Valley suspended two students this week for wearing Confederate flags around their necks.
One 16-year-old told KOMO (http://bit.ly/15t6b3c) they were showing Southern pride. They decided to do it after another student came to class wearing a gay pride flag.
The school has banned the Confederate flag, calling it a message of hate. Both juniors were suspended until next Monday.
School District spokesman Kevin Patterson says wearing the Confederate flag is disruptive.
