Lucas Cruikshank, the YouTube celebrity and Nickelodeon star known for his super hyper character "Fred," came out on Tuesday during a Q&A YouTube video, TMZ reports.
"I'm gay. It feels so weird to say it. My family and friends have known this for like three years I just haven't felt any need to announce it on the Internet. I feel awkward," the actor said.
He goes on to say that his close friends and family have known that he is gay for years but never felt like he needed to reveal his sexual orientation to the public.
Cruikshank, 19, made the clip with his friend Jennifer Veal, who starred in the Disney Channel's "Jessie." During the clip he asks Veal, "How come you didn't have to make a video saying you're straight?"
As TMZ reports, Cruikshank became popular after making a plethora of YouTube videos acting as "Fred," who had a crush on a girl named Judy but never acted on it.
