Las Vegas police have arrested a 24-year-old man who they say shot at a security officer in the parking lot of a gay nightclub over the weekend.

Maxwell Felch Mullen was booked into the Clark County jail on suspicion of attempted murder after the Saturday night confrontation.

Witnesses told police Mullen had been auditioning to be a go-go dancer at Share nightclub when he became drunk and started causing a disturbance.

Police say he was escorted out of the club and began running around the parking lot saying he was going to get his gun and shoot someone.

Witnesses say Mullen grabbed a gun and shot at a security officer before the guards tackled him. Nobody was struck.

Officers say Mullen later told them he was afraid for his life.
