After Tom is abducted and introduced to the leader of the alien force, he learns that the aliens will stop at nothing short of genocide. Liberating his son Ben from the alien harness that enslaved him, Tom is then made privy to the Skitters plans that they perceive humans as a hostile species that must be eliminated.

Now Tom leads the remaining resistance through a veritable minefield on route to Charleston, SC, and a whole new set of threats await them along the trek.
