Gay Porn Actor Says He Was Duped Into Inflammatory Anti-Muslim Film
Jason St. Amand READ TIME: 2 MIN.
An anti-Muslim Internet movie posted on YouTube this week has made headlines around the world and has been cited as one of the reasons behind anti-U.S. demonstrations in the Middle East that caused the death of a U.S. ambassador -- it also stars a porn actor best known for doing gay films, according to Joe My God.
Tim Dax may be the most recognizable of the mostly amateurish and confusing cast in "Innocence of Muslims," thanks to his outlandish tattoos and appearance: the buff adult film actor has stars tattooed around his nipples, ink that resembles armor covers most of his bald head and face and has large plugs in his ears.
Dax, who says he is "straight but with a twist," sent a statement to the blog and discussed his involvement in the controversial movie.
"i can tell you i auditioned for a movie called Desert Storm that was about Ancient Warriors," Dax wrote in an email to Joe My God. "My character was called Sampson on the paper with a few lines I got each day upon arriving on set. We never saw a full script or any lines after the day we shot them. Many questions were asked regarding absurdity of lines and situations."
"Sam the producer who I believed to be, but not certain as Egyptian. His reply would always to work with what we were given as he wrote the script," he added. "The clip that I saw part of today for the first time is questionable as to being my voice. The voice over work is dubious at best. a week and a half of work, 75 bucks a day & lunch. ; ) Can't tell you anymore than that other than I'm am very much NOT anti muslim. one world one love. Tim."
Dax was featured in Titan Media's 2008 film "Folsom Undercover" and has been photographed for Michael Alago's "Rough Gods."
Many have claimed that the insensitive "Innocence of Muslims" has sparked the anti-U.S. protests in Libya, Egypt and Yemen, which led to the death of Ambassador Chris Stevens and three others in Benghazi, Libya.
Time calls the 14-minute movie "ridiculous" and describes it as an "excerpted from a larger movie propagandizing present-day Muslims and the life of Muhammad, is confoundingly bad, filled with incongruous accents, haphazard cuts, ludicrous dialogue and green-screen so bad that the actors appear to be floating in the air." And the YouTube channel the movie is posted on says, "This is the Muhammad Movie by Sam Becile that caused a bunch of savage Muslims to kill United States ambassador, J Christopher Stevens. The film claims Islam is a lie and Muhammad was a pedophile. All rights to Sam Becile."
The video's maker has not been confirmed, however.
