Getting Personal With Steve Kramer

Kevin Mark Kline READ TIME: 2 MIN.

Steve Kramer has been a fixture at the Hangar Bar since it opened in 1993. "I managed nightclubs back in the day but I wanted to scale down to a bar and the Hanger was getting ready to open," he recalls. "I appeared behind the bar for the first weekday Happy Hour and never vanished." He says the venue attracts a diverse crowd of locals to globetrotters. "Europeans hold Christopher Street in high regard as a gay landmark, so there's always a handful hanging around. I enjoy them...a lot." We clipped Kramer's wings and got him to open his cockpit.
