Sarah Jessica Parker on Why She hasn't Reacted to Passing of 'SATC' Costar Willie Garson
After news broke that "Sex and the City" star Willie Garson died this week, many flocked to social media to offer condolences, including several cast and crew members of the HBO comedy. But several fans noticed that star Sarah Jessica Parker, who plays Carrie Bradshaw and had numerous scenes with the late actor, has been silent.
"SATC" stars Cynthia Nixon, Kim Cattrall and more mourned Garson, who played Carrie's gay BFF on the show and filmed scenes for the upcoming sequel "And Just Like That," soon after his death was announced. But, as of this writing, Parker has yet to comment on Garson's passing publicly; however, BuzzFeed points out that she did post a comment explaining why she's been quiet.
Parker made her comment on "SATC" star Chris North's Instagram post mourning Garson. (North plays Carrie's husband, Mr. Big.) The photo shows Parker and Garson laughing on the "SATC" set, with North adding the simple caption: "Willie," along with a red heart emoji and a broken red heart emoji. That's when Parker commented and explained her silence: "Thank you dearest Chris. I'm not ready yet. Xxx."
BuzzFeed also notes that Garson's death comes not long after Parker discussed the passing of her longtime friend and business partner George D. Malkemus III, who died from cancer this month. Just last week, she shared an Instagram post mourning him.
