Reports: Openly Gay Wrestler Jack Atlas Signs on with WWE
Openly gay wrestler Jack Atlas has reportedly been recruited by WWE to join the ranks of their ring warriors Last Word on Pro Wrestling posted that:
According to our sources, Jake Atlas was approached by WWE officials at the PWG Battle Of Los Angeles event which took place last month... Triple H made the call to Atlas after the contract was issued to him at PWG and Atlas will be reporting to the company soon.
The wrestling site's report gave a thumbnail of Atlas' career so far and noted that he is "the current PCW ULTRA Light Heavyweight Champion and the current APW Universal Heavyweight Champion," as well as recalling that mainstream America learned that Atlas is gay thanks to the reality show "Celebrity Undercover Boss." Since then, the report added, Atlas "has represented the LGBT community and has had plenty of support from the pro-wrestling community and from WWE."
SoCal Uncensored also reported on the news, posting:
We can confirm that Jake Atlas, real name Kenny Marquez, has signed a developmental contract with WWE and will be reporting the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, FL in early January.
However, SoCal Uncensored added:
Last Word on Wrestling broke the story earlier this morning, though their story claims that Triple H called him and the contract was offered to Atlas at PWG, which we have been told neither are true
SoCal Uncensored also recalled how Atlas first came out:
After Atlas was named the 2017 Southern California Rookie of the Year, he made headlines outside of wrestling by using that opportunity to come out publicly as gay.
