Guy Pearce Says He Regrets His 'Handsy' Comments About Kevin Spacey

Tuesday Jul 10, 2018

Actor Guy Pearce said he regrets recent comments he made about Kevin Spacey, who he called "handsy" on the set of their 1997 film "L.A. Confidential," according to The Sydney Morning Herald.

His initial comments came during an interview with Andrew Denton, in which he said Spacey was "handsy," adding that he was "thankful he was 29 and not 14" when they filmed "L.A. Confidential."

Pearce has since attempted to clarify his comments, telling Fairfax Media that while he was not assaulted by Spacey, he felt uncomfortable.

"I very much understand that it's too sensitive a topic to be brushed off," he said in a statement. "I addressed and handled the situation when it took place, hence my regret at making it public now."

Spacey was accused of sexual misconduct by actor Anthony Rapp, who alleged in October 2017 that the "House of Cards" star was inappropriate with him when he was just 14 years old and Spacey was 26. Since then, several men have come forward to accuse Spacey of assault.

Spacey has denied the allegations but last week it was reported British police said they are investigating six claims of sexual assault or assault by the Oscar winner.
